Sarah Aroeste, an international Ladino singer/songwriter, author and cultural activist, draws upon her Sephardic family roots from Greece and Macedonia (via Medieval Spain) to present traditional and original Ladino songs. Biscochos Recipe
Ingredients:
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1⁄2 cup vegetable oil
2 teaspoon baking powder
1⁄2 teaspoon salt
1 cup sugar
3 cup flour
1 egg, beaten, to coat cookies before baking
Sesame seeds to top (optional)
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350
Mix first 7 ingredients into a dough
Form cookies into scored rings (this is the fun part!)
Place cookies on lightly greased cookie trays or parchment
paper. (You will likely need at least 2 trays as the recipe
above makes approximately 50 cookies.)
Coat cookies with egg wash and sprinkle sesame seeds on top
(optional)
Bake for 18 minutes (or until desired golden top)
Let cookies cool before removing from trays
